So Murdoch is still ranting and now others are joining in. this is good. it brings things to a head though probably wont resolve anything for papers.
NYT is looking to retrench, which is probably the best thing as it starts looking for cost savings in the right places. how many of its staff are based on physical newspaper stuff (distribution, print setting etc). some interesting propsals have been coming up to centralise or offshore these services as they are becoming non-core for the future.
in the meantime MSN, AOL and Yahoo are all gunning for the space that newspapers filled. they are launching local focused sites and expecting a 12% growth in local focused advertising over the next year.
